Victor closed his eyes.
His breathing had softened and steadied. His mind began to wander.
He stood in the dark woods. The air was thin and bitten with the chill of snow fakes. The calm silence was both soothing and intimidating. He squinted his eyes and looked around. He felt as though he was waiting; for what he had no idea.
The moonlight embraced the dark figures that lay all around him. There was only silence. A chill went down Victor’s spine. He was about to go frantic and just as it had begun to feel like a nightmare he froze.
In the distance he could hear the soft sound of humming. It soothed his ears and he followed the sound trying to find the source.
The closer he got the more he recognized the tune. It was the tune he had played earlier that day on the piano.
He finally came within visual of the person who had been humming his lovely tune. His pupils grew large seeing the white pale women dance flawlessly in the moonlight.
He gazed upon her grasping at every feature, even the not so pleasant ones. He remembered standing in the church with her. He would have given up his life for her; just to be with her.
“Emily…” He whispered.
She stopped and turned around to face him. She let out a small gasp of surprise.
“Oh! Victor! There you are you startled me. I’ve been waiting out here for you all night.” She smiled and twirled around.
He looked at her in confusion and shock. He was in complete bewilderment. “Emily, what do you mean? I don’t understand what’s-”
She put a hand to his mouth cutting his sentence off. “You will understand soon my love.”
He wrapped his arms around her pulling her close. She was warm and soft. He took in her sent that wasn’t repulsive at all. She smelt of roses and lilies.
She smiled and giggled slightly. “What is so amusing to your eyes Victor?”
He gently moved a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled. She closed her eyes and tilted her head upwards longing for his lips, but they would never come.
Victor woke up.
